What is urban hiking?

Urban hiking is simply hiking, but in an urban environment. It's a great way to sightsee and get to know a new city, learn about its people and connect with nature, all while getting a great workout!

Urban Hiking is different to most walking tours and activities; we:

  • handcraft each hike so it's something you won't find elsewhere

  • explore Melbourne's green spaces and rivers

  • take pride in supporting local businesses

  • encourage shared knowledge and connecting with other hikers

  • utilise public transport on all of our hikes

  • cover longer distances than most city walking tours

Why hike with us?

As one of the world's most walkable cities, Melbourne is an excellent place to explore on foot. Urban Hiking takes you to places off the tourist trails to discover the hidden secrets of our city's inner suburbs and parklands, while giving you a great workout. We're a small owner-operator and take pride in providing something different to visitors and locals alike. Come and explore our urban trails and experience Melbourne's fantastic food culture while getting some fresh air and exercise!

What can you expect?

To have fun, meet like-minded hikers, take in some of the city's sights, sounds and stories and discover what it's like to see Melbourne like a local. We're very relaxed and informal and talk as we go, encouraging you to contribute your own knowledge and experience, making each hike truely unique and special.

We hike rain, hail or shine, so bring protection from the weather and a spirit of adventure!

About me:

Hi, I'm Mel. I've been exploring Melbourne's urban parks, gardens and waterways (and bars, pubs and wineries) on foot since 2011. I'm a qualified bushwalking guide and love showing groups the real Melbourne - the one the locals know.
